Show UNFOLD RECITAL OF HIGH SEAS TRAGEDY 1 PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 16. A tragic la'e of the seas was unfolded here today by four survivors of the British schooner, . Oimto, picked up while drifting helplessly several hundred rniies from shore by the American steamship Zirkel. The survivors, sur-vivors, all from Newfoundland, say the captain of the Onato, James Brussia, and his brother, Earnest, first mate, were crushed lo death by the shifting of the ship's cargo in a gale. Their stories.' however, do not agree with that told by Captain Daniel A. Sullivan, Sul-livan, master of the Zirkel, which arrived here today, and all four men were locked : up at the Gloucester immigration station on charges of mutiny. Thev will be turned over to the British consul. Captain Cap-tain Sullivan declared that when he drew . j near the schooner he plainlv could see what appeared to bo a general fight raping on the little craft's deck amidships amid-ships anil that one of his officers said he liail heard what he believed to be two pistol shots. The Onato, a 105-ton schooner, was bound for a Newfoundland port from Oporto, Spain, with a cargo of salt. |
