Show iBici pm SPHEADPLflNNED Insurgent Iemocrats of Texas Divided Into Two Factions. FORT WORTH. Texas, Aup. 15. Plans for natJonalirlng the new "American "Ameri-can party," organized here yesterday by a group of Toxas Democrats dissatisfied with their old party, will be put into effect ef-fect upon appointment of a special committee com-mittee for that purpose, it was stated today. to-day. Meanwhile the other faction of revolting revolt-ing Democrats, which determined yesterday yester-day on a campaign of reconstruction, within the old party, went ahead with plans for outlining a definite line of attack, under the leadership of former Senator Bailey. Judge C. F. Greenwood of Dallas, chairman chair-man of the "Bailey meeting," expected to appoint at once an executive committee which will set a time and place for a state convention to determine on the faction's fac-tion's future course. Political observers, pointing to the similarity simi-larity in the platforms adopted by the two conferences, declare that the factions almply are divided as to the means to attain a common end, and, in reviewing the possibility that the "Bailey" group may not achieve desired results within the present Democratic party, find significance sig-nificance in the following utterances by Mr. Bailey: "We intend to follow the principles adopted yesterday wherever they may lead us. If the Democratic party, state and national, comes to the principles, then vro are with the Democratic party. If not, as I say, we will follow these principles princi-ples wherever they may lead us." Chairman W. P. Sebastian of the American Ameri-can party conference declared today he would devote "very careful thought" to the selection of the committee to deal with the national organization and would not say when this committee would be named. A Texas convention of the party will be called by the executive committee at a date not as yet decided upon. |
