Show Arrests at Chicopee. CHICOPEE, Mass., Dec. 29. M. Edward Ed-ward Lyons, proprietor of the Hadley hotel in Hadley, was arrested today on three warrants sworn out by State Detective De-tective J. V. Daly of Northampton. The arrest resulted from tfie large number of deaths throughout this section from the drinking of whisky" alleged to have contained con-tained wood alcohol. Lyons is charged with manslaughter in causing the death of Michael Schinskl of Hadley, who died Sunday. No new deaths resulted today. Many of those ill here cannot recover. Fifty-seven Fifty-seven persons have died in the C'onnccti-. cut vallev from drinking the poison. Five men held in New Haven in connection con-nection with tho sale of whisky, alleged to have contained wood alcohol, and which, it Is claimed, caused the death of nearly sixty persons in the Connecticut valley, 'were brought to tills city tonight to-night and arrested by Massachusetts authorities au-thorities on charges of homicide in causing caus-ing the death of Michael Bednarz of this city. They were all held without bail and will be arraigned tomorrow. |
