Show M WEATHER MOTHS Weather Man Favors Ruth Trap Gunners on Two Consecutive Sundays. Special to The Tribune. RUTH, Nov., Oct. 21. The members of the Star Pointer Gun' club of Ruth are positive that something has gone J wrong with the weather "machinery" in Nevada, for they have been favored with ideal days for . target breaking at their last two shoots. The boys are so used to having a Btiff wind to fight that the fine weather has them guessing, even j though said fine weather is highly appreciated. ap-preciated. In the .regular club event at fifty targets, tar-gets, on October 12, Wise was high with 48 breaks. He was forced to the limit by Munroe, who finished second with 47. Quayle took third on 46. In making these scores, Munroe smashed 40, Wise 36 and Quayle 31 straight. In the Black Diamond trophy eveiti, Wise broke them all, 25 in a row. This looked mighty good until Proctor started bombarding the tarhawks. He also finished with 25, including his handicap han-dicap of 5 added. In the shoot-off Proctor Proc-tor won, 25 to 22. What the club lacked In attendance on, October 19 was more than made up in scores and shoot-offs. It was some day. The regular club event of fifty straight saw Karl an easy winner with 48 breaks. Wise and Munroe shared second honors with 46. Bartley captured third on 43. i Munroe again walked off with the longest straight run by murdering 44 in a row. Karl pulverized 34 without a skip, and Wise smashed 28 before he heard the referee call "lost!" The Black Diamond trophy event was the "big noise" of the afternoon. Four ; shoot-offs were necessary to decide the I winner of the "leg," and for a while It looked as if darkness would find the,m still in a tie. Trouble started when Wise and Bartley tied, Wise going 25 straight and Bartley smashing 21, with 4 added. They shot off. Wise breaking 22 with 1 added, giving him 23, but Bartley was too strong for him and repeated with 21 breaks, giving him 25 with his handicap of 4. Just as these two shooters had finished their shoot-off, Munroe and Kari (away late) appeared on the scene. They proceeded at once to lambast the targets for a score on the trophy and I both finished with 23 breaks. Each car- , ried a handicap of 2 added, which gave j them a perfect score of 25. These two. I shot off and again tied on 25. Then i Bartley was again entered, making a I three-cornered tie, and in the shoot-off ! Munroe and Bartley went straight, Karl losing out by one target. Munroe and Bartley then fought it out, Munroe winning, win-ning, 23 to 21. This gives Munroe two "legs' on the trophy. Dr. Bowdle also has won two "legs," so a great battle can be expected next Sunday, as It is a safe bet these two shooters will be on hand to fight it out. 1 The arrangement of the handicap Is 1 working out splendidly and giving the boys a better chance to get a win or two I ; on the cup. There have been six contests I to date, the winning legs being divided I : among four shooters. The lucky shooters 1 are: Dr. Bowdle, two "legs"; H. S. , Munroe, two "legs"; D. P. Bartley, one "leg"; A. J. Proctor, one "leg." Andy Karl has received his new gun. Guess it is O. K., for he stepped out and smashed 70x75 for high average with it. Look out, boys.
