Show SCHOOLS ARE HELPING THRIFT MP DRIVE Ogden Pupils and Teachers Lending Their Support to the Movement. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, June 5. The public schools of the city, which have been one of the important factors in the thrift and war savings stamp sales in Ogden during the past six months, have decided de-cided to lend their further support by keeping the school buildings open one night a week during the summer. Teachers in various districts have volunteered their services to receive the money from the pupils of the school on one night a weelt, between the hours of 6:30 and 7:30 o'clock. All the schools of the city will be open on Monday evening, except the Quincy school, which will open on Friday evenings eve-nings with Eva Moyes in charge. The schools which will open Monday evenings and the teachers in charge, are as follows: High school, J. li. Beeson and Grace Atkinson; Pingree, Trilby Jarman; Washington, Alta Calvert; Cal-vert; Lewis, Lucille Stanley; Madison, Clara Brown; Dee, Erma Davidson; Grant, Beatrice Brown: Central Junior, Daniel H. Adams; Lorin Farr, Imogene Clive; Mound Fort, M. June Pierce; Five Points, Olive Blackman. The city and county church w:ards were each made into a district today by the general committee, and a subcommittee sub-committee was appointed in charge of each. The house-to-house canvass for the securing of signatures on the pledge cards to buy a certain amount of stamps this "year, will start at once. The committee is desirous of placing the pledge cards in every home in the city and county, whether the amount subscribed for is $1000 worth of stamps, which is the limit to any one person or $5 worth of stamps to be taken before the end of this year. The committee also is desirous of having the stamps placed in every home in the city and county, with either one or more members mem-bers of each family. The Four-minute "club announced to-dav to-dav the list of speakers who will appear ap-pear at the local theaters Saturday evening eve-ning in behalf of the war savings stamp campaign. The list includes: Ogden, Jed Abbott; Orpheura, D. L. Stine; Alhambra, C. A. Boyd; Utah, the Rev. C. R. Garver; Cozy, Joseph Chez: Lyceum, George Halverson, and Rex, Frank M. Driggs. |
