For. the purpose of OTganzing all shop crafts employed on the Union Pacific system under one affiliated head, a general gen-eral conv-ention will be held in Salt Lake December P. Upward of 200 delegates will be present. Arrangements for the organization conference con-ference were completed in Salt Lake yesterday yes-terday when five authorized representatives representa-tives from five railroad shop crafts conferred con-ferred with local llbor union .officais. The representatves. who left at the conclusion con-clusion of their deliberations when a date was definitely fixed for tlie general eon-clave, eon-clave, are: H. J. Norton of the boiler-makers' boiler-makers' union, Kansas City; H. C. Weinberg, Wein-berg, machinists. Omaha; Pf J. Whaley, blaclr smiths, Kansas Ciiy; Ray Horn, sheet metalworkers, Kansas 5Mty; Frank Paquin, Brotherhood Railway Carmen, CKicaco. The proposed organization of Union If aciflc shop crafts under one head is not a new scheme, as nearly all of the railroads rail-roads in tlie country are thus organized. Such a system has just been inaugurated on tiie Santa Fe hue. and has been in operation on the Denver & Rio Grande some years. Jt eliminates the problems coming out of treating with several or-, or-, ganizations, all grievances being presented present-ed to company managements, covering the several affiliated crafts, in a single Issue. |
