Show SIDEWALK DISPUTE ALMOST SETTLED Tiie long-standing controversy between the city commission and tlie city board of education as to which should stand the cost of sidewalk adjacent to school grounds, bids fair to be settled. A resolution passed by the board of education last night instructed the committee com-mittee on law to arrange for determination determina-tion of the board's authoritv In the matter by a friendly suit. The city commission has offered to stand half the cost of such paving, and the board of education made provision for the friendly suit against itself it-self to determine if it can accept the offer made: that is If it can sflend school money for sidewalks. The lack of paving at the Ensign school is occasioning the rush of the question to a decision at tills time, the fear being that tlie walks will lie dangerous if left un paved in winter weather. |
