Show AUSTRIA'S DEFEAT CAUSE OF SUICIDE Theory of Murder Discredited Discred-ited by Discovery of Note Written to Brother. Special to The Tribune. - OGDEn! Nov. 12. The fact that his native country, Austria, was defeated, is believed to have been the motive for the suicide of Fedeie Gulseppe Packer, 3G years of age, whose body was found in ihe freight yards of the interurhan railroads rail-roads shortly before midnight. This theory was advanced by a countryman late tills afternoon. When the body of the man was identified a search of hlte belongings disclosed the fact that he premeditated pre-meditated suicide. The body of the Austrian was found by George Moulding, an employee of the Bamberger Electric Railway company, who reported It to the night watchman, James Garner, who summoned the police. The first investigations gave Detective Grant Svphers the impression that It was a case of murder, as the automatic revolver' re-volver' was found about thirty feet from the body by Police Chauffeur Charles Wheat. Among the man's effects a note directed that all his belongings be turned over to his brother. This note was written In his native language. Among the other effects were two $p0 Liberty bonds of the second and third issues, receipts to the Red Cross and a bank book showing savings in a Kem-merer Kem-merer bank to the amount of $500.84. He also had a membership card In the United Miners of America. There was a box of cartridges to fit the .32 automatic revolver, re-volver, which was used by Packer in ending his life. An inquest was called early this morning morn-ing and the following were impaneled as a jurv: Byron Dee, L'fiO.? Adams avenue; I. Morris, '325 Thirty-fourth street, and James Garner, 2602y2 Adams avenue. The body Is at the Kirkendall chapel, where it will be held pending receipt of word from the brother, who Is said to be in Plumas, Cal. |
