Except for the difference differ-ence in style of headdress, the girls of the .lunior mercy worgranlzations array themselves in toss the cut and color of that adopted by members, of the senior Red Cross society. Ways in which the junior Red Cross can be of service in the program of mercy work are many and varied. They include in-clude activities in a score or more ways, from gathering salvage matter to Americanization Ameri-canization of foreigners. Along the line of the tatter the following suggestions are made in a bulletin addressed tb all junior branches just received at Red Cross headquarters. "Use every schoolhouse as a center of patriotic service," the bulletin orders. "The democracy of childhood is a powerful power-ful force in promoting democracy of adult lifp," It adds. Junior Red Cross members are urged, in the circular, to teach the English language lan-guage to foreigners, and reading and writing writ-ing to the illiterate. Night schools are j recommended for this service in every community. |
