Show WASHINGTON, May 22. Shipments of tobacco to the American troops abroad already have gone forward, war department depart-ment officials said today. Extensive purchases have been made to insure a steady supply. Details of distribution have been left to the Quartermaster forces in France. Tho men may draw their new ration in cigarette tobacco and papers, in plug tobacco for chewing or use in pipes, or in cigarettes already rolled. Where ready-made ready-made cigarettes are drawm.the daily allowance al-lowance will be four cigarettes. An announcement will be made shortly giving details of the plan for distribution. Officers recognize that the allowance ma.de is somewhat limited, but, since the Red Cross, Y. M. C. A. and commissary agencies are available, where the allowance allow-ance can be supplemented by the troops at their own expense, there Is no prospect pros-pect of the soldiers going without what they need. |
