Show ITALY RECOGNIZED AS ALLYJFTHE U, S. Colors of Nation Across the Sea to Fly From Public Buildings Today. WASHINGTON. May 22. A message to the Italian people from President Wilson Wil-son will be read tomorrow night at a mass meeting here under the patronage of the president, to celebrate the third anniversary anni-versary of Italy's entrance Into the war. With another great Austrian campaign against Italy impending, special significance signifi-cance is attached to the event In official and diplomatic circles. The anniversary, which falls on Friday, Fri-day, will be observed in Italian cities and the message of President Wilson will be cabled across in time for those meetings. The meeting here will be the beginning of a nation-wide recognition of the services ser-vices of Italy in the war. President Wilson Wil-son has issued instructions to fly the Italian flg from all federal buildings throughout the country Friday, and the state department sent a similar request to American embassies, legations and consulates abroad, an Unprecedented step. Governors of the states also have been asked to take steps to accord recognition to Italy's part in the war. |
