Show EAGLES ARE TO HOLD CONVENTION AT ELY Elaborate Plans Being Made for the Entertainment of the Delegates to the Gathering. Special to The Tribune. ELY, New. May 22. Final arrangements arrange-ments for the state convention of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, which wil1, be held here on June 4, 5 and 6, are about completed, and White Pine aerte No. 1705 is preparing a royal welcome for the large number of delegates and visiting members which it is expected will be present. The ceremonies will be in keeping with the spirit of the times and, accordingly, the usual banquet will be dispensed with. Upon the opening day of the convention' the delegates will be welcomed by President Presi-dent Henry Duncan, following which the freedom of -the city will be extended by Mayor A. B. Witcher. The greater portion of the day will be given to business matters, and on Wednesday Wed-nesday evening a smoker will be given in the lodgerooms, at which an elaborate entertainment has been arranged. On the third day the visitors will be taken by automobile to the mines of the JNe-vada JNe-vada Consolidated and Consolidated Cop-perm Cop-perm I nes companies at Ruth and Kim-berly, Kim-berly, as well as the great smelter at McGill, and in the evening a grand ball will be given in Bijou hall in Ely. For the accommodation of those from the mines and smelter who desire to attend at-tend the ball, special trains will be run. Arrangements in general are in the hands of a committee composed of W. R. Howels, W. S. Enslow, D. B. Bailey, James S. Bennett and B. B. Belcher. |
