This well is on the property of the Fre-. Fre-. ! 1 niont Consolidated Oil company, which 1,1 company has placed its development in ! " I the hands of the Sheridan-Wyoming : i company, which drilled this well and t which now has two drills running in the ; : field and another new star rig in transit A J between Riverton and the field. In addition ad-dition to the drilling: of this company, ; the Carter people and Ohio company 1 each have drills running1 steadily, which are now nearing the sands, so that additional ad-ditional wells are due within ten to fifteen fif-teen days. ; This strike Is of Immense importance ! to the oil industry of the state, particularly particu-larly to Riverton, belnsr of far greater ,, production than any wells heretofore en-- en-- countered west of the Muddy field., It is located on ceded Indian lands, which were withdrawn In 1918, and which with-it with-it drawaJ was opened up by special en- act men t of congress In 1917 and leased i to the present holders at public auction at Fort Washakie on October 10, 1917. The leases were not approved in Wash-i Wash-i ington until January of the present year, l and Immediately after the approval of the leases the companies interested in this field began active operations, so that ' a number of wells are now nearing the i sands and additional production can be ; expected in the near future. Tho structure upon which this well is , drilled is very extensive, more than 30,-0il 30,-0il acres being embraced in the area .heretofore withdrawn by the government;, and only a limited acreage of the witlu drawal was offered for lease, the gov-i gov-i eminent still holding a very large acreage acre-age which will undoubtedly command handsome cash bonuses when put up for lease at some time in the future.
