Show POLICE SEARCH FOR ISKEHIOITS An all-night search of the city by the entire detective force of Salt Lake, followed fol-lowed a street car holdup the third within two months perpetrated by two armed and masked men at West Seventh South and Pueblo streets, shortly before midnight. The bandits secured about ?45. The victims were Conductor G. W. Copeland of 721 Linden street, who lost $18; Motorman F. J. Fredrlcks of 654 South Main street, who was relieved of 30 cents; Victor L. Cook of 632 South First West street, from whom $26 was taken, and Samuel Johnson of 522 Cheyenne Chey-enne avenue, who lost $1.10. The street car men are said to have told the officers that upon leaving the end of the line with Johnson and Cook and the latter's wife as passengers, they had proceeded but a block when the motorman mo-torman stopped the car for two supposed passengers standing at the corner. Two men boarded the car, each carrying a heavy revolver and adjusting handkerchiefs handker-chiefs over their faces as they stepped upon the platform. With the command "Hands up!" the crew and passengers were lined up, one of the bandits keeping keep-ing them covered while the second went through their pockets, taking nothing but money. According to the police, the men then left the car, ordering the crew to start the car and not stop it again for at least three blocks. They then disappeared in a northerly direction. When the robbery w'as reported to the police, every detective de-tective on the force was ordered out in an effort to apprehend the men, but up to an early hour this morning neither had been captured. |
