Show I NEXT TRAINING CAMP REQUIREMENTS GIVEN , College Heads to Choose Candidates for Army Commission Course. Special to The Tribune. WASHINGTON, April 29. For the guidance of civilians wishing to enter the fourth series of army officers" training camps, to open May 15, the war department depart-ment has issued a circular setting forth i conditions which must be met. In the main, the next training camp will be open toNnen in the service, but. In addition, addi-tion, graduates of recognized colleges which have a military training course Will be admitted under certain conditions. If they are between the ages of 20 years and 9 months and 32 years and have had at least one year of military instruction at some college, or other institution, under un-der the supervision of an "army officer. For these college graduates, the war department de-partment has drawn up a set of instructions, instruc-tions, which read as follows: .Men under class C (that is, graduates grad-uates of military colleges', should apply ap-ply in writing to the professor of military mil-itary science and tactics of the institution insti-tution from which they graduated, including the following information: (a) Full name; (b) years attending attend-ing the Institution: c) legal residence; resi-dence; (d) date and place of birth; (e) citizenship! (f) weight and height; (g) a detailed statement of all military mili-tary service and training"; (h) a detailed de-tailed statement of all experience and opportunities for leadership; (1) that it is thoroughly understood and agreed that if applicant is selected to attend a training school he will enlist en-list for the period of the war; that if not found eligible to be enlisted, will serve in the ranks, and. If listed as eligible, will remain on duty as an en-, listed man until such time as he may be appointed lieutenant; (j) there should be submitted with application a detailed report of physical condition con-dition made by a well-known doctor doc-tor surgeon, the scope of this physical phys-ical examination to be equivalent to that prescribed in regulations for a. commission in the officers' reserve corps, the requirements of which can be obtained from the officer on recruiting re-cruiting duty In the locality in which the applicant resides; (k) at the time application is mailed, applicant should have three letters written by three well-known and reputable citizens, none of whom should be related to him, testifying to hie character and standing in the community in which he lives and giving their opinion as 'to the fitness of the applicant for a commission as an officer. These letters let-ters should be mailed separately and directly" by the writers to the authorities au-thorities of the educational institution, institu-tion, and should not be inclosed with application. All applications must be in the hands of the officials of the educational educa-tional institutions not later than May 1. No applications will be received or considered by the war department. The selection of the quta assigned to each educational institution will be made only by the authorities of the institution themselves and not by the war department. All inquiries regarding the selection of candidates shbuld be made to the authorities of the institution and not to the war department. |
