In honor of their son, Daphney M. Sharp, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Palmer Pal-mer Sharp entertained at dinner Sunday at their home, 161 first avenue. Young Sharp will leave this week for Camp Kearny, to serve in the mechanical department de-partment of the army with the 145th (First Utah) field artillery. Other guests of honor were two young friends of Mr. Sharp, who will also leave soon to iissume army duties. They are Maxfield Reading and Leslie Gallyer. Red and white carnations and blue flowers wore arranged as a centerpiece for the table. The place cards were tiny Amerlcan flags, and the ices curried out a patriotic idea. The grandparents of the young soldier. Jlr. and Mrs. John C. Sharp, presented him with a wrist watch, and appropriate verses written by David Murdoch were road by Lennox Murdoch. A successful dancing party was given last night by the Ladies' auxiliary of the Congregation Montefiore, at the B. B. hall. The proceeds will be used for the purchase of Liberty bonds. Light refreshments refresh-ments were served. The hall had patriotic pa-triotic decorations. The committee in charge included Mrs. J. Rosenthal, Mrs. J. Shapiro, Mrs. S. Salmenson, Mrs. E. C. Claschko and Mrs. F. Rogoffsky. Under the auspices of the music de-' partment of the Westminster college, Miss Florence Crandall, Miss Elizabeth Gillillan, Miss Elizabeth Reherd and Miss Ruth Black gave a pleasing piano recital at the college last night, assisted by the Men's Glee club of the college. The programme was as follows: Birthday music: "Birthday March," "Cradle Song," "Intermezzo," "Walzer and Finale" (Bohm), Miss Ruth Black and Miss Elizabeth Reherd; "Old Glory" (Adams), Westminster College Men's Glee club; "Berceuse" (Zapp), "Spring Song" (Mendelssohn), Miss Elizabeth OiUilan; "The Butterfly" (Grieg), Miss Elizabeth Reherd; "The Brooklet" (Schutt), Miss Ruth Black; "Prelude" (Rachimanoff), Miss Florence Crandell; "Carry Me Back to Ole Vlrginny," Men's Glee club; duet for two pianos: "Polonaise" (Oscar Schmitt), first piano, Miss Florence Crandell, Miss Elizabeth Gillilan; second piano, Miss Elizabeth Reherd, Miss Ruth Black. Members of the T. F. B. Sewing club were entertained at cards yesterday afternoon af-ternoon by Mrs. W. C. Lackey, 146 South Second West street. Five tables were arranged ar-ranged for "500," and tea followed. The rooms were decorated In spring blossoms. Apple blossoms and flowering almonds In delicate pink tints in a low bowl formed a centerpiece for the tea table. The hostess was assisted by Mrs.'' John L. Lowe and Mrs. N. H. Wright. Miss Florence Decker, daughter of R. Z. Decker, and Charles J. Piercey, will be married Thursday morning In the Salt Lake temple. A reception will be given in the evening at the home of the bride's uncle, John D. Own. The bridegroom Is connected with the base hospital of the 145th (First Utah) field artillery, and is on a furlough from Camp Kearny. Mrs. Lewis" M. Sunshine auxiliary of the Red Cross will entertain at a card party this afternoon after-noon at the home of Mrs. W. T. Rowe, 327 Denver street The proceeds of the entertainment will be devoted to a fund for the support of a French orphan recently re-cently adopted by the auxiliary. The committee on arrangements includes Mrs. V. T. Rowe, Mrs. R. F. Heath, Mrs. J. B. Moran. Liberty ward Relief society will give an) entertainment this evening in the ward amusement hall to raise funds for the purchase of Liberty bonds.
