EXCELLENT progress is being made by the local organization of the American junior naval and marine scouts, under direction of Sergeant ilanca of the local marine recruiting recruit-ing station, who is giving the boys instruction. in-struction. This is the fourth month that the local battalions have been organized and the boys are taking great interest in the drill work that is fining them to become marines ma-rines later on. Some of the boy marines have demonstrated demon-strated such ability that they have won 1 commissions as junior officers and Sergeant Ser-geant Alanea recently issued their commissions com-missions to them. The following young boys have been made captains; Kenneth Lyon, Raymond R. Bradley, Willis Wil-lis Bennett, Richard Buckley, Brenton W. Jennings and Kimball McCuteheon.
