No details were given in the cablegram-Mr. cablegram-Mr. stormes, who is 2S years of age and a brother of Mrs. E. H. Bayer, enlisted last November in the coast artillery. He received his training at Camp Merritt, New Jersey. Before his enlistment Mr. Stormes was connected with- the Utah Oil Retinine company. In addition to other Salt Lake and Utah survivors of the Tuscania, reported re-ported bv the war department and published here, it was learned yesterday yes-terday that the following men were saved: Privates Ferris Neff. Sugar Station; Sta-tion; Conrad Harmon. Felt Smith and J. B. Stewart of Utah. The information was received in a cablegram ca-blegram sent from France by Mr. Neff to his wife at Sugar Station. Ira Fumed Hinckley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tra N. Hinckley. "23 North First West street, has arrived safely "somewhere "some-where in Europe," according to a cablegram cable-gram received yesterday by the parents. The cablegram is merely dated "Abroad," so that whether it is in England or France that the young man has arrived is a matter mat-ter of conjecture. Young Mr. Hinckley left here November 3, li'lT. with the men of the first draft. After two weeks at Camp Lewis he was sent east to join the "Sunset" division and recently left for Europe. Definite word that Lieutenant Raymond P. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. S. Smith, 1SS J street, was not a passenger on the transport Tuscania, was received yesterday, in a message received by Mr. Smith from Senator Reed Smoot. Early dispatches gave the name of "Kay Smith" as a passenger on the vessel. Senator Smoot yesterday telegraphed that the passenger list gave Ray Smith asi a private in the army and California as his home address. |
