Show M'CREDIE IS HEADED TOWARD SALT LAKE Special to The Tribune. 1 PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 3. Walter Mc-Credie, Mc-Credie, manager of the Salt Lake Pacific Coast league club, left Portland this morning for Salt Lake, where he will hold a conference with President Lane of the Bees before proceeding east to confer with various major league club officers in regard to getting- players to strengthen the Salt Lake line-up. . Mac's stay in Portland was brief. He ducked in and then ducked out. He had a short talk with Judge McCredie but no definite action was taiten in the transfer of any Portland players to Salt Lake. Mac said he would like to have Siglin, Lee, the recruit picked up by Portland last fall; Wiiie and Brenton. He believes that Brenton, being a spit-ball spit-ball artist, would go good in Salt Lake. When lie reaches Cleveland McCredie expects ex-pects to make arrangements with the ndians for the release to Salt Lake of all Cleveland players who are not quite up to ma-.lor league standards. Bill Rodgers, captain and second baseman base-man of tlie Portland Beavers, today asked Judrce McCredie for his outright release. Rodgers figures that by being a free lance he will have a better chance or landing the managership of the Sacramento Sacra-mento club. . Rodgers has cast his vote in favor of Gus Fisher as manager of the Portland Northwestern league club. Judge McCredie Mc-Credie recently decided to allow the fans to have a little say in selecting the Beaver manager for next year and he has been swamped with letters boosting many of the players of last year's Coast league team for the place. |
