FORMER AMERICAN CONSUL IS ARRESTED Alfred Heydrich, Who Served as U. S. Agent at Matanzas, Taken to Havana In Custody. HAVANA, Mareh 14. Alfred Heydrich, Hey-drich, former American consular agent at Matanzas, was arrested in Matanzas today and is being brought to Havana in custody of Captain Curtis of the Cuban army. The cause of the arrest of Heydrich has not been ascertained. The American government in March of last year ordered the office of the consular agent at Matanzas closed. It was intimated that it had been decided to close all consular offices not considered consid-ered necessary for the interest of the service. Alfred Heydrich was born in Cuba in 1862 and was naturalized in New York in 1903. He attended the public schools in Germany. He was president and manager of the Matanzas Waterworks Water-works company in 1903, and was appointed ap-pointed American consular agent at Matanzas in July, 1905.
