Show CHANGE FOR UTAH j TO SPREAD CHEER Fifty Men at Camp Sheridan Sheri-dan to Be Remembered at Yuletide. : There are fifty Utah men in army ser-j ser-j vice at Camp Sheridan, Ala., who are without relatives or friends able to remember re-member thtm at Christmastide with any sort of gift. The names of theL-c men and their companies may be obtained through application at the administration offices of the locM Red Cross. Word concerning the "orphan" soldiers at Camp Sheridan reached lied Cross i headquarters, together with the names and company addresses yesterday, in a letter let-ter from lieutenant-Colonel ICmery West, formerly located at Fort Douglas and associated as-sociated with Colonel George L. By ram in charge of the war prison camp. Colonel West asks that Salt Lake residents see to it that the Camp Sheridan men are properly remembered at Yuletide. Official announcement was made yesterday yes-terday at Amelia palace that even atter the subsidence of demand for gauze masks the gauzeroom at headquarters will be kept in indefinite operation for general sewing, and more especially for refugee garment making. At present almost al-most unlimited numbers of women are needed to make gauze masks. The force, in spite of repeated calls for volunteers, is still inadequate. A call was issued by the management of the chapter for work-era work-era in the gauzeroom. Knlistments will also he accepted for refugee garment work. These garments are to be sent abroad to clothe destitute men, women and children in the war-str'.cken districts. There are more titan 1,000,000 persons .to he provided with clothing by the Red Cross. A general, report of the supoly department depart-ment at Amelia Palace, issued yesterday by Manager Mrs. Clara Worthington. shows that the department has sent to Denver headquarters more than a. million and a quarter pieces of work done in the department for war service. These include surgical dressings, hospital garments, gar-ments, hospital supplies, re fu feet garments gar-ments and similar articles. In addition the department has pent 3'L09 pints of jams and jellies to Camp Lewis and Camp Kearny. |
