By splitting today's doufcle-header S.ilt Lake took the series from Vernon, four frames to three, ?ind with the Seals' double defeat is now right on San Francisco's heels in the pennant race. Losing the morning game at Vernon by the elose score of 3 to 2, the Saints came back in the afternoon and after the Timers had tied things up in the sixth the Salt Lake bunch made a great rally in the final inning, winning by a score of 7 to 5. Getting away with a two-run lead in the opening round, Dubue mnnnged to stall off the local batters until the fourth, when Vernon tied the' score. The Saints tallied three runs in the fifth, but, Vernon Ver-non evened the score in the sixth. Qui rin, pitching for the Tigers, put on more steam at this point and neither side tallied for two innings. Coming into the ninth with one down, Rath singled infield, Crandall followed with a double dou-ble to left center and Ryan tripled to right center, scoring Rath and Crandall, and the game was over. The Tigers made a bid in the last half of the ninth, touching Dubuc for two hits, but failed to connect with the liome plate. The morning affair was something of a pitchers' duel between Kirmeyer and Slagle.
