Show RENEW PLEDGE OF LOYALTY TO WILSON PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 16. Organized labor in this, city renewed its pledRe ot loyaltv to President Wilson and assured the country that it would do all in its power to uphold his war policies, at a meeting of the American Alliance for Labor La-bor and Democracy here today. Addresses Ad-dresses were delivered by Charles Edward Russell, who was a member of the mission mis-sion sent by the United States to Russia; Rus-sia; Frank Morrison, secretary of the American Federation of Labor; Clarence Darrow of Chicago and others. "The pacifists are calling for peace," said Mr. Russell, "but a peace made today to-day would be a victory for Germany which would mean the death of democracy democ-racy and the ndlng of the earth by the most autocratic, cruel and conscienceless conscience-less nation the world has ever known." Mr. Morrison said the alliance Is endeavoring en-deavoring to undo ttie "malicious work done by many influences which have misrepresented mis-represented the attitude of labor" toward to-ward the policy of the government. |
