Show ELKS WILL OBSERVE FOOD CH1T1 Ogden Lodge to Hold Meeting Meet-ing in Compliance With National Request Special to The Tribune OGDEN, Sept. IS. In line with a request re-quest that has been sent out by Grand Exalted Ruler Fred Harper to Elks throughout the nation, the members of Ogden lodge No. 71 9, B. P. O. Elks, are preparing for a special meeting on Tuesday Tues-day evening, September 25, in observance of a food conservation campaign inaugurated inaug-urated for members of the order. TVhile the campaign and special meeting applies only to members of the fraternal order, it is of considerable public interest at this time. The message of the exalted ruler contains con-tains a pledge which every Elk in the United States is expected to sign. It provides pro-vides that in every Elk household and in the daily consumption of foorl by every member of the order there shall be a conservation con-servation of fowl stuffs, especially meat and wheat, during the period of the present pres-ent war. The pledge also provides that in the home of every Elk there shall b served at one meal three days each week at least one dish prepared from food not consumed at a previous meal. In connection with the special meeting of the Ogden lodge on September 2S, James Devine. a member of Salt L-ake lodge No. S,V has accepted the invitation of Exalted Ruler W. C Camp to deliver an address on food conservation. The special committee In charge of arrangements arrange-ments for the. meeting is composed of W. B. Porterfield, chairman; V. T. Green-well Green-well Charles Carlson and R. H. Argu-brignt. Argu-brignt. Tho officers of the lodge expect a large representation of the membership on the evening of the special meeting. |
