Show PERKINS RECEIVES SUPP0R1JN FIGHT Johnson of California Sends Telegram; Whitman Takes His Stand. N'BW YORK, Jan. IS. George W. Perkins, Per-kins, national Progressive leader, received re-ceived today more telegrams and letters from Progressive leaders all over the country congratulating him on his stand in refusing to accept the harmony plan ; proposed by the subcommittee of the ex- j ecutive committee of the Republican na- i tional committee. Among the telegrams ; was one from .Senator-elect Ifiram Johnson John-son of California as follows: "With you in your efforts to make the Republican party progressive, I h m in fullest sympathy and hearty accord. Go to it and all Progressives will be with you." Raymond Robins, presiding officer of the Chicago convention of the Progressive Progress-ive party, held a long conference today with Mr. Perkins, in which he told Mr. Perkins that he was in thorough accord with his stand. William R. Will cox. chairman of the Republican national committee, today declined de-clined to say when or whether a meeting meet-ing of the national committee would be called to take up the situation, as demanded de-manded by air. Perkins. He said the subcommittee of nine on harmony had not yet met to consider Mr. Perkins's action ac-tion and would not meet -within the next two or three days. He indicated that the matter would not be brought before the national committee until the subcommittee subcom-mittee had taken it up. |
