Show GOLDEN WEDDING IS OBSERVED IN CHURCH Immanuel Baptist Congregation Tirst to Congratulate Happy Couple at Services Held Yesterday. While a golden wedding observance was not down on the printed church notices of the Immanuel Baptist church yesterday, yester-day, tliere was, nevertheless, such an observance, ob-servance, much to the surprise and gratification grat-ification of the congregation. At the conclusion of his sermon yesterday yes-terday morning, the Rev. I,. S, Eowerman, pastor, called Mr. and Mrs. James 1 Berkeley lo the front of the auditorium. Mr. and Mrs. Berkeley are the two living members of the church originally organized organ-ized in this city. He requested them to escort Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Corser, -149 Blaine avenue, to the front. They did so. and Dr. Bower-man Bower-man then told his wondering congregation congrega-tion that this was the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Corser. He extended his felicitations and asked his congregation to do likewise. An informal in-formal reception was held, everybody wishing Mr. and Mrs. Corser many more years of happiness and prosperity. Mr. and Mrs. Corser were married In ! Concord, N. IT.. October S. ISfiU. Mr. Corser, who Is past commander of the 1 Crand Army of the Republic here, Is the : senior deacon of the Immanuel Baptist I church and hap been a member of the church here for twenty-three years, j |
