Show QUESTION WHETHER ICK WILL DO Opponents Say There Are Too Many Voters in at Least Two Districts. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN. Oct. $. As a result of the recent re-cent decision of the Weber county board of commissioners to use the voting machines ma-chines in the November election, members mem-bers of the board and County Clerk Harry Hales are preparing to resist charges that in some of the larger districts of Ogden City it will be impossible for all to vote on the machine within the specified twelve hours. In the Sixteenth district, for instance, the charge is made that more than 1000 persons are registered, yet it would be impossible to vote only 720, even If the average of one per minute was maintained. main-tained. In the sepciffc instance of the Sixteenth district County Clerk Hales asserts that, while the registration books may show more than ldOO names at this time, many of these have moved out of the district, some have died and others will not vote on November 7. It is contender that the Fourteenth district has almost as many registered voters as the Sixteenth. It being too late to throw out the machines ma-chines and to redlstrict for the Australian 'ballot, the commissioners plan to supply extra machines for the larger city districts if, from the number of voters registered, it is deemed necessary. As the number of available machines is limited, this means that the two largest country districts. dis-tricts. North Ogden and Huntsvllle, may be deprived of a voting machine each on November 7. In all of the country districts outside the two mentioned, the Australian ballot has always been used. |
