A small deposit of ore, running as hipi as 19.9 per cent tungsten, according to assays by tlte Stowell Assay company, was encountered en-countered recently in the Spokane Belle mine, near Valley, thirty-two miles north of Spokane, and the owner, E. H. Bel-den, Bel-den, a pioneer Spokane attorney, now has a small force at work stripping the veins in an effort to discover more of the metal. The SiK)kane Belle Property is one of the oldest locations in northern Washington, Wash-ington, but was worked principally for its silver values, shipments of several cars having been made to the smelters twenty-five years ago. The formation is granite and mica schist, the ore occurring oc-curring in four parallel fissure veins, which have been traced diagonally throuyh the 16u acres comprising the holdings, the exposures being in a series of surface cuts and trenches. A 100-foot shaft was sunk a number of years ago on the south vein, and recently Mr. Bel-den Bel-den sunk a fifty-foot, shaft on the north vein. The general formation in both is similar, and the quality of the ore is the same, although the south vein Is much wider, varying from six to ten feet, and Is much more strongly defined, while tiie north vein is but from three to four feet, with the mineral continuing into the country rock on the. footwall side.
