Show WILL CONFER WITH THE NEW ASSESSORS State Board of Equalization Desires to Obtain Uniformity in Assessments Assess-ments of Lands. At a nn'Ctir of the state board of equalization yesti'nlay it was decided to have memhefs of the board confer with tho newly-elected county assessors throughout the state on the matter of uniformity in assessment of lands in Utah. it was decided that Amos S. Gab-bott, Gab-bott, member of the board, shall made a trip through the state and confer with tho assessors, in an effort to establish a uniform basis for assessment of all classes of lands. It is pointed out by the board that in some counties lands are assessed on one basis and in other counties upon ap-other ap-other basis, with the result that there is a lack of uniformity in results and inequalities in assessments that could be avoided if tho assessors in the various va-rious counties could be induced to adopt a uniform basis of assessment and all followed this basis in making their appraisements. ap-praisements. Tn the counties where present assessors asses-sors were re-elected tho work of assessing assess-ing lands will commence soon, and conferences con-ferences will be held with these officials offi-cials first. The new officials will take office the first of January, and it is planned to have conferences with them before they take office. |
