Jacohson, general manager of the Alta Consolidated mines, said yesterday that under tiie direction of Superintendent Superinten-dent Krnest Keil the sinking of a shaft had jtist been started on the bedded vein, 300 feet from the portal of the tunnel, at a point where there is now about three and one-half feet of ore carrying 4 per cent copper and $4 in pold, there beins also small values in silver.
