Show SOLLIS GUILTY OF DISTURBING PEACE Sentence to Be Imposed This Morning on Companion of Young Man Wounded by Officer. Fred Sollis, 19 years of age, arrested Thursday morning by Officer H. Warden War-den on Sixth South street, between West Temple and First West streets, was convicted yesterday morning before Jude E. A. Eogers in the criminal division of the city court on the charge of disturbing the peace. Sentence will be imposed at 10 o'clock this morning. Numerous witnesses testified to hearing hear-ing screams in the neighborhood about 1 o'clock in the morning and to seeing two young women running and two men following them. Officer Warden related how he arrested Sollis and P'ugene Hall, and said that while the patrol wagon was being summoned Hall attempted to escape es-cape and was shot and wounded by the officer. Sollis took the stand, denied following follow-ing the young women with any evil intent, in-tent, denied hearing screams and denied having trouble with Hall or any other person. Prosecutor V. W. Little asked for a stay in passing sentence, as. the case is being investigated by 'officers of the juvenile court, in regard to a charge more serious than disturbance of the peace. Judge Rogers fixed bail in the sum of $o0. Hall is still in the emergency hospital, hospi-tal, painfully, but, it is believed, not seriously wounded. Dr. WT. S. Kovting, police surgeon, probed the wound Thursday Thurs-day night, in an attempt to remove the bullet, but did not succeed. |
