Show WHEAT BULLS MEET WITH SUDDEN CHECK Black Rust Reports Discounted Dis-counted and Heavy Selling Sell-ing Movement Starts. CHICAGO, July 28. Despite the fact that wheat at one time today touched the highest prices yet this season, the market, mar-ket, except during the first hour, was on the down grade. Bears made much of assertions by a prominent expert that crop losses would perhaps not reduce the yield in the Dakotas and Minnesota much under a seven-year average. The close was weak, lc to lc net lower, with September Sep-tember at ?1.22fel.22 and December at $1.2o. Corn finished lic off to Vc up, oats c down to zr.c up and provisions unchanged to 15c higher. At first the wheat pit was dominated by news that black rust damage was increasing in-creasing and that the infected area was j being enlarged. It was soon apparent, i however, that advances in prices were be- i ginning to act as a decided check on the enthusiasm, of buyers. At this juncture heavy selling on the part of half a dozen big houses jolted bullish confidence to a still greater extent. Considerable interest was taken by wheat traders In the circumstances that many estimates of damage in the northwest north-west were founded on comparisons with last year's abnormally large crop. The total yield of the Dakotas and Minnesota Minne-sota in 1915 was 2S9,0U0,0O0 bushels, whereas a ten-year average for the three states is about 191,000,000 bushels. , Corn values swayed a good deai in sympathy sym-pathy with wheat. Oats were relatively easy throughout the session. v Higher quotations on hogs gave firmness firm-ness to provisions. RANGE OF THE LEADING FUTURES Open. High. . Low. Close.
