Show SCHOOLS REMAIN IN HEADLESS CONDITION Board Fails to Name Superintendent; Additional Teachers Are Employed Em-ployed for Next Yea-r. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, July' 28.-1-A two-hour private pri-vate session of the Opdeu City board of education tonight i'ailcd to bring about the appointment of a new superintendent super-intendent of schools to succeed John M. Wills, but members of the board ad-Emitted ad-Emitted that several candidates were under consideration, V. E. Moore, principal of the high school at South Omaha, Neb., was in conference with the board during the session behind closed doors. II. H. Henderson said he was favorably impressed by the Omaha candidate. 1 In the brief open meeting of the board a resolution was adopted fixing Tuesday, September 5. as the date for the opening of schools. The teachers will be required to report on Saturday, September 2. The president and clerk were authorized to borrow $1U,000 to defray current expenses. On recommendation of the teachers' committee the board employed the fol-. fol-. lowing teachers in addition to those announced one week ago: Martha Scud-der, Scud-der, Mrs. Mabel Hoist, Mrs. E. T. Mr-guirc, Mr-guirc, Mary B. Spencer, Jlarry S. Reed, Margaret Mercer, Betty Noble, Genevieve Genev-ieve Allison, Myra Dclonald, Harriotto Kanzler, Uelmi Forrest, Etta Smout, Mrs. Laura Blake, Lila Shultz,- Ruby Herdi, Henrietta Meyer, Mrs. Gertrude McMurrin and Ellen Wilson. The board adjourned to meet at the call of President W. H. Williams. It ts anticipated that a decision on the matter of a new superintendent will be reached within a week! |
