Show WATER SITUATION IS LITTLE CHANGED Improvement In tlie county's water supply was reported to the countv coni-nilniuonern coni-nilniuonern yesterdav. The Improvement Is due to the restoration of the flow from the springs on which the county depended for lillinpr the reservoir In the larmtrj'. nl district. Recently the sprlnps' flow ceased and an InvestiRatlon showed that it had been unwittingly diverted hr contrai-tora digging dig-ging sewer trenches for the city. The county protested to the citv commission and asked for cltv water to supply the difference. This was refused, the citv taking the stand that It was not responsible respon-sible for the county shortaKe and had no water to spare. The ditch through which the diversion was made has been tilled in and puddled and as a result the springs' flow has been returned to Its original channel. The water situation In the city remains about the same as last week. Pressure at the water office gauge shows eighty pounds, whereas It should show normally normal-ly about ninety-Are pounds. The supply coining Into the system Is loss than 'O.noo.OOO gallons a dor. as against a demand de-mand of aO.OfiO.OOO gnllons a( this season sea-son of the year. Flow of the streams Is decreasing and the shortage Is expected ex-pected to become more serious before the dry season is at an end. |
