The Turkish battleship Kheyr-ed-Din Barbarossa of 9900 tons displacement, dis-placement, formerly the German warship war-ship Kurfurst Friedrich Wilbelm. has been sunk by a submarine of the entente en-tente powers, according to an official announcement today by the Turkish government. A majority of the officers and men composing the crew of the battleship was an v ml. The official statement telling of the Ions of tbe battleship adds: The loss of the Barbarossa, which was sunk this morning, however regrettable re-grettable in itself, does not affect us excessively, except, that it places the strength of our ships compared to that of the enemy in the ratio of one to ten. The Khevr-ed-Din Barbarossa was built at Stettin, in 1891, and was purchased pur-chased together with the battleship Torgut "Rcis from Germany bv Turkey in 1910.
