H; Clay, secretary of the Commercial club reveal the determination of that organization to proceed with its plan of trying to arouse a demand for the continuance of the expositions on the coast next year. One of the letters was addressed to Charles C. Moore, president of the Panama-Pacific International Inter-national exposition, San Francisco, and suggested that the position was being taken by, the local organization that the telegram from President Moore under date of August 10 did not reflect opposition to a campaign for the continuance con-tinuance of the expositions so much as a disbelief in the practicability of the plan. -On this premise, the letter of j Secretary Clay explains, the campaign is being launched. According!', letters were mailed yesterday yes-terday to commercial clubs and chambers cham-bers of commerce throughout the west advocating the agitation for a continuance continu-ance of the expositions. These Icttors were preceded by telegrams suggesting the same thing. In the letters Secretary Secre-tary Clay urges the organizations addressed ad-dressed to leave no stone unturned that might result in helping the cause, suggesting sug-gesting that appeal be made to newspapers, news-papers, state officials, congressional delegations, del-egations, etc. |
