The Callfor- I nla eight-hour law for women employed in manufacturing and mercantile establishments, estab-lishments, except in harvestteig and canning can-ning fruit, boarding houses and graduate : nurses in hospitals, was upheld as constitutional con-stitutional today by the supreme court. The decision established the principle that reducing the hours of woman's labor la-bor to eight hours a day is not an improper im-proper exercise of police power. Hitherto Hither-to the court has ben called upon to go only so far as to uphold a limitation to ten hours a day In tiie Massachusetts law and fifty-four hours a week in the Ohio law. |
