Show ST. JOE ROADHOUSE RAIDED BY SHERIFF Sheriff E. O. Reading, of Davis county, with a posse of deputies, raided the St. Joe road house last night and arrested Gordon Wooley and Waiter Huntsman, supposed to be connected with the institution. insti-tution. On telephone information that the county attorney of Davis county had issued is-sued warrants for the arrest of Walter Kelbaugh, alias Kelly, and J. Halverson, the men were arrested in Salt Lake by the local police as being connected with the operation of the roadhouse. Kelbaugh was arrested at 323 West Fourth North street, and Halverson at the Wilson hotel. Kelbaugh and Halverson are in the city jail and Wooiey and Huntsman are being held here under the personal surveillance of Sheriff Reading. Sheriff Reading said, after the raid, that all of the men will be charged with violating violat-ing the state liquor law and conducting a disorderly house. "The St. Joe roadhouse is a thing of the past," declared Sheriff Reading. "Such an institution cannot be operated at St. Joseph or any other point in Davis county while I am sheriff. I stand for a clean county and will go as far as the laws will permit to make it so." J. Jj. Mabey, justice of the peace at Bountiful, came to Salt Lake last night and conferred with Sheriff Reading, outlining out-lining the plan for prosecution. |
