Show PLAN HORSE RACES FOR PROVO IN JUNE Special to The Tribune PROVO. April :in.Thc First Ward Pasture company has leased the fair grounds to ti number of Provo citizens, who expect to opc-n It this summer for racing and other similar amusements. The. committee which holds the lease is G. A. Cluff. Charles U'estrope. Alva Nelson and Ed Morgan. The first attraction at-traction will he clven June ll. 12 and 13, when the United Commercial Travelers Travel-ers meet here. A number of horses are being worked out now for the lirst meet and tho track is being put Into shape for racing meets. Word comes from Hober City that many of the racehorse men In that vlcllty have purchased a number of fast horses this spring and have ih fever. They havo sent word to the committee here that they wish to enter the first racing carnival to be held. Cluff has notified the Hcberltes that they may enter the met here in June. A number of other surrounding towns have been invited and will probably enter In the near future. No one will be barred from this meet. Mayor C F. Decker has manifested a willingness to assist In arranging some lively sport for I he citizens of Provo and Utah county. The Commercial club is also deMrous of helping promote such an enterprise |
