The company has paid upward of f-'U.OOO.OUO in dividends, and thla docs not Include several mlllloriH more in profits that wore divided anions: the lesseea on tho Mohawk, Red Top. Combination and Jumbo. All of the compnnv'.-i dividends were paid within a period of five yeara, Merger Mines. Of all work conducted In the Goldfiold district In recent months, that of the Goldlleld Merger Mines company has attracted at-tracted tho greatest Interest by reason of lta scope and tho fact that it ia in practically unexplored territory. The control con-trol of thla company was acquired by the Goldlleld Deep Minos company, a $10,000,-000 $10,000,-000 corporation, organized and -rinanccd by former Senator William A. Clark of Montana and his associates, who provided a cash fund of ?-'o0,000 for tho development develop-ment of the property, a merger of the St. Ives. Velvet, Pollatch and Gold Horn properties. Tho Merger company proceeded to on-largo on-largo and continue the main St. Ives shaft, -which is now down MOO feet and will he sunk to a depth of 2000 feet. Tho mine Is equipped with ono of the best plants In tho entire country and in under highly capable management, the directors, before starting this work, having sent their manager, T, U. Metsgar, to" Montana, Mon-tana, Colorado and to tho lako Superior country, in order that he might familiarize familiar-ize himself with the latest methods of mine operation and tho most advanced machinery. With the main ohuft down H00 feet It was decided to drive a. cross-cut to the west on the 1330-foot level, to conned, con-ned, for ventilation with the I,i00 level of tho Grizzly Bear nilno ol tho Consolidated. Con-solidated. Shaft work was suspended pending tho completion of this cros.s-cut. which hati made tho connection and has passed through two large quartz fissures, fis-sures, yielding good assays, and which will now bo thoroughly explored". A strong flow of water from the first of theso fissures Is being readily handled by the new pumping plant. This crosscut cross-cut has mado rapid progress when in good ground, being driven IS feet in one day. J3y agreement with tho Jumbo Ks-tennion Ks-tennion company tho Merger Mines company com-pany has secured tho joint use of the Polvcrdo or main shaft of the former company and Ik now driving from these workings, on the 800 and JMO-foot levels, following tho main vein into the Velvet claim oJid In good oro. The drifts will bo driven to points whero. by raising, connection may bo made with tho main Velvet shaft. 700 feet deeper, and n main avenue for production afforded. This will place tho Merger company in a position to immediately begin producing pay oro and to develop additional territory, hut thla work will in no way interfere with that In progress on tho St. Ives claim. The Merger company has secured the settlement. set-tlement. In Its favor, or all litigation in which It has been Involved, nono of It of a sorloua nature. Jumbo Extension. Prom a rather obscuro prospect tho Jumbo. Extension company's Polcverde nilno has developed during tlio year into a producing rnlno of tho first rank In the district, next to the Consolidated. Oro bodies of largo volume and excellent avcrago grade have been opened on various levels, tho company has secured milling facilities In tho acquisition of the Bonnie Claro mill, 3G miles south of Goldfiold, and its present oro reserves are estimated to be sufficient to supply the mill, at the rate of 2000 tons monthly, month-ly, for inoro than a year. Together with its oro of milling prado, this rnlno is producing material that ia being slilpped directly to tho sampler of the Western Oro Purchasing company, the principal purchaser of custom orcs In Nevada, The main oro bodies aro opened open-ed down to the 950-foot level and development de-velopment is being extended to open them on the deepest or 1012-foot level. Tho main Clermont vein 1m aald to traverse this ground, which is behoved by many to havo the making of one of tho best mines in tho state. The deepest workings have exposed tho best ore and the flrat ore broken for shipment on the 050-foot level sampled 585 per ton. Concentrate from the mill is being shipped to the International Interna-tional smelter at tho rate of 12C tons monthly. Florence GoWfield. Operations on tho Florence property, since the mill waa destroyed by fire early laat December, havo boen largely devoted to development anu uic biiwuiK of the main shaft, although there has been a-considerable output of shipping pro from a largo deposit of hlgh-grado that wan opened between thu fifth and seventh sev-enth levels. Some of this ore has averaged aver-aged up to 5tt00 per ton and it has been the object of Manager Dewoy to ship nothlmr under 5100 per ton. The extraction extrac-tion of this shipping ore has placed In sight a large tonnage of excellent milling oro that remains standing to await mlll- I"ThfoC'Iialna' shaft of the "Florence was sunk to a depth of 3 270 rcct and a large station has been completed on tho 1-00-foot level from which tho .surround ng territory will bo explored during tho coming "year. Development will be conducted con-ducted at other lovcls as well, as tlio ahaft passed through Bevcral sections of highly mineralized ground containing seams of ore. Lone Star "Con." Active work was started during the vear on tho properly of the Iono blar Consolidated company, which has bcen i-porganized and nlaccd upon the assessable assess-able stock basis. In common with a number num-ber of other Goldfleld companies, which, by this means, havo been enabled to resume mining operations. J he J.ono Star Is now classed as tho best non-producing non-producing prospect in tho district and the company Is developing at two doIius. Is obtaining some high assays from its work on tlio Patrick claim, and has a propertv in Mono county. California, unon which some ore of excellent grade has been exposed recently. Jt has dent funds in Us treasury, rcallzca from the assessment, levied upon exchanging ex-changing stock of tho old company for that of the new, to carry on its opera tions for a conHiucramo pcuou. na erty ia well equipped with mining machinery ma-chinery and the management is capable and economical. Silver Pick. The Silver 3'ick, another company that has betn reorganized on tho assessable plan, is now developing Its ground, near the boundary lines or the Mohawk and Combination claims of the Consolidated, and isi exploring veins that have a trend toward theso bonanza properties, On tnc Combination irnicUon property lessees are now operating at two points and ate said to bu taking out ore of good grade. Tho Blue Bull and Booth companies, both of whleli aro controlled oy "' Wingfleld. president of the GoldHelU Consolidated, havo likewise been reorganized reor-ganized and are undergoing development on company account, while tho Sandstorm-Kendall Consolidated. In tho some position and ono of the early-day onan-y.nu onan-y.nu of tho camp. Is being explored at dC'F'ho Atlanta Mines company, also reorganised, re-organised, has been flnunced by an association asso-ciation of the most prominent xnlmng i.. it.- .,.,.uf iw.Iti,Hiii- nporire TYlng- JUI.'ll ill lliu i;jv. o --i-. field, Thomas Kearns ot Utah. Consolidated havo been leased to a company that la starting extensive operations opera-tions and may erect a mill. Tho Goldlleld Oro has been working to sonio extent by lessees and u strong eastern company has secured control and has financed extensive work, to Include a 1000-fool. shaft near tho north end line of the Consolidated claims. This ground ban not been explored at depth but rlcn ore has bison mined from aujomiug grcuinu near the boundary and It Is regarded aa valuable. On tho Kabawgam group, adjoining ad-joining tho Consolidated on the west und owned by the Begolo Mines Syndicate, ore of excellent grade has been found late y and it la probable that this ground w II bo developed on an extensive sculo in tho near future. The Nevada liagle property, prop-erty, nearly four miles west or town, has beer! producing oro of shipping grade and la apparently destined to bo a rcguhu producer of silver-gold ore. Work Js u progress on the Third Clianco property and tho New Jersey Mines company In developing two properties. In tho Diamond field purt of the district operations havo been chiefly confined to tho work of lessees, although tho Gold-field Gold-field Belmont has been working on a small scale on company account, the Venial has exposed pay ore, with scums of high-grade, and has bcen shipping to tho sampler, and the Dlumondflcld Black Butlc, one of thu most prolific properties in the early days, has done sonio work on company account and htia exposed i'oino shipping ore. The Vernal ore-shoot, was exposed at a depth of 50 feet and later a raise from tho 100-foot level penetrated tho deposit, -bowing seams that carry coarse froo gold Dcoslng operations on the main shaft of tho Black Butte wcro suspended but will bo resumed later aa some ore of excollcnt grade was opened In these worklugB and this lo generally rogarded an tho most valuablo property in that Sa.rt of thn district, ulnco It has a record of production of shipping ore valued at over 5600,000 from ubovo the 200-fpot level itnd has never been rxplorcd at dopth.
