Show Colorado Mine Has Developed A New and Valuable Ore Body Mining men who have watched thc career of the Colorado Mining company com-pany are interested in tho fact that recently re-cently a new body of oro was discovered to the northwest of the original channel, chan-nel, a six-foot 'fnee' of valuable stuff having been exposed there. Thc auuual report submitted to stockholders in November last says: l During the fiscal year no additional property bas been acquired and the mino equipment is uuehunged. Tho compressor plant which has been operated operat-ed by tho Knight Consolidated Power compuu3' since the disposal of thu electric power contract has been sold outright to good advantage, and we are now purchasing air from this company for the operating of drills aud the Xo. il hoist. "Ore production has been confined to thc old channel, where small stringers string-ers and offshoots from the main fissures fis-sures have bueu followed, wherever profitable. Tho cleaning up of- thc old atopes bas yielded a good percentage of thc past year's production and special attention has been given lo this work. "The policy adopted by the management manage-ment of developing ouly such places as gave promise of oru production has been adhered to in a measure, although some 1700 feet of exploring work away from thc known vein bas been done. The greater part of this w-ork consists of a drift about S00 feet from tho Crown Point shaft, ruuuing west toward our shaft Xo. J. The object of this drift was to determine the extent of tho porphyry showing on the surface immediately imme-diately east of tho Colorado line, and tu cut the contact at that point. "This drift was commenced from the 500-foot Jcvol of tho Crown Point workings and is 1000 feet lower than the collar of thc Colorado Xo. 2 shaft. A drift cast from tho 300 level of the Xo. 2 shaft was run a distance of 3G J feet for the purpose of cutting this samo coutact from tho east side. This work has demonstrated that thero is no oro on tho coutact and that, the porphyry showing on tho surface must be au overflow. "Drifting to thc extent of 535 fect has been done irom tuo burxaco iu Utah hollow on a level 178 feet lower than the collar of Xo, 2 shaft for the purpose of crosscutting tho outcrop-pings outcrop-pings of irou and quarts at a point about 400 feet south of tho Beck tunnel No. 1 shaft, and also crosscnttmg outcrops of tho same nature further west, which wo belicvo to bo thc same as the old Utah vein, having the same dip. This tunnel has been designated thc American tunnel. Tho work thus far has only ml the first mentioned croppings, which shows some quartz cnrrylng small values. There is developed devel-oped a considerable tonnage of low grado silicious ore, apd as tho erection of a mill to handle this is now assured, it will no doubt be mined at a profit." |
