The minister or agriculture agri-culture has received, in connection with the opening of tlie shooting season, a report from a forester which throws a curious light on the instinct of qailfl and partridges There has been in the district dis-trict of the minister's correspondence continued complaint about the Increasing rarity of game. The forester instituted an inquiry, and established the fact that game decreased wherever aerodromes were established. This year, however, there 1b no ground for complaint. Partridges Par-tridges and quai! are as plentiful as ever. The Inference in drawn by the forester that the birds, when accustomed to aeroplanes, aero-planes, took them to be some strange winged beasts of prey, and prudently decamped from their vicinity. Reassured Reas-sured now as to the harm leanness of these new denlaens of the air, they have returned to their old haunts. Their instinct in-stinct has merely taken them out of shall we say the frying pan into the fire. |
