Show GOVERNOR DECLINES TO JUDGE BABIES i State Executive Too Busy to Devote Time Required for Contest. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Sopt. 20. Governor William, Wil-liam, Spry, hitherto rcgardod as thc bravo and unfearing head of this great state, has lost some of that, reputation in Ogden, Ho has refused lo qualify as a judge in the baby contest of tho Fashion show to be held on next Friday Fri-day and Saturday, September 26 and 27. Jn a letter to the committee Governor Gov-ernor Spry announces that ho will be an Ogden visitor on the first day of the festival, but us for acting as baby iudfro. ho recrets verv much that ol- ficial duties will not allow him sufficient suf-ficient time to givo lhc matter proper attention." Thus Judge A. G. Horn, chairman of the baby contest committee, commit-tee, finds himself absolutely without a judge. The applications of Frank Chapin and William Lnrkins have been turned down, both failing to qualify as judges. Judge Horn refused to make public his reasons for refusing Messrs, Chapin and Larking places on tho awarding board. Ono change has been made with regard re-gard to thin feature of the festival entertainment. Tho baby parade scheduled sched-uled to take place prior to the awarding award-ing of tho prizes has been abandoned, many mothers refusing to enter their babies if forcod to parade before a Washington avenue crowd. Tho entire affair will therefore be staged within a roped area in Central park. The committee com-mittee will arrange the babies in such a manner that alt may be seen by thc crowd. |
