Tho Taft ' Hi an( Roosevelt forces nro active in thiB ietate to control the Republican state convention to bo held at Lewiston May 10, whero delegates to the national convention will be elected, aiul botli claim Idaho. Tho figures and estimates esti-mates the' givo show n wido difference as to their claims. Taft leaders assert they havo 155 delegates pledged to tho rcnomination of President Taft to j Eooaevelt's eighty-two, and that sov-enty-nine are still doubtful. The num. ber of delegates needed to control the convention is 159, so that according to the figures of the Taft leaders but four moro delegates nro needed to give them absolute control. They assort thoy will go into the convention with close to 190 delegates. Roosevelt leaders aro -just as positive in their claims. They declare the' now have a majority of sevontccu of tho instructed delegates, and with the un-instructcd un-instructcd delegates elected and those to be elected, will seat 181 delegates iu the convention, theroby claiming a majority of forty-six delegates over the Taft. forces, and twenty-two moro than the necessary number to control. I Roosevelt Claims. The' claim tho swinging of Ada county and its thirty-one delegates into the Roosevelt column and the prospect of securing twenty delegates in i're-mont, i're-mont, which they beliovo is now .the pivotal county, will settle the question ques-tion of domination of the convention.
