The death of Colonel Shaughnessy reminds the public of a mini who iu his time cut quite a largo figure iu public pub-lic affairs in Utah. lie was forceful, determined, a good friend, and a warm enemy. For many years, however, he has not figured in public affairs lyjrc, and. his doings were known only to a fow. But i he-had a remarkably wide acquaintance wjth prominent -politicians and business busi-ness men in the East. His death will bo regretted by those of tho old settlers who have knowledge of him, nnd who admired htm in his time. His family havo the sympathy of his friends in their bereavement, and it is to be hoped that this will aid them in sustaining sustain-ing tho great loss that i hey nrc now enduring. |
