Although the county commissioners apparently ap-parently havo plenty of money to give to tholr party organ for publishing the delinquent tax list, and for other incidental inci-dental advertising, yet when It cornea to aiding1 the poor of the county they evidently evi-dently havo attempted to economize to a considerable extent during tho past year. The report of James Sabine, pauper pau-per clerk, shows that during the year 1000 tho county expended $7280.31 less In helping tho poor than during the year 1008. During the year Just closed the county paid S31.578.52 out of the pauper fund, while In 100R It paid out 538.S67.83 In helping the poor of the county. A total of $1 famllios. comprising 2339 persons, received aid from tho county during the year. The report shows that transportation transporta-tion was given to 125 persons during the year, while the clerk assisted 100 more In securing railroad fares. There wore eighty-two persons sent to the county Infirmary, forty-two persona given board and lodging at the Salvation Army barracks, and ten given accommodations accommo-dations at the Volunteers of America headquarters during tho yoar. Of the total amount paid out during the year as given above, Mr. Sabine says that $2163.47 was expended by Anton Lundborg, who was pauper clerk during the first fifteen days or tho year 1900, The largest amount received by one family during the year was 52S3.40 and the smallest cash donation to one person per-son was 52 |
