The guests were dressed as school children and thoroughly enjoyed the novel games Played. The school rooms wero fittingly fitting-ly arranged for tho occasion and decorations decor-ations wero in keeping with customs of early school days in Utah. Tho Sorosis club was entertained at the homo of Mrs. Annie E. Evans on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Ina G. Hodson read a verv interesting paper on "General Ballincton Booth" of tho Salvation Army. The remainder of the afternoon was devoted to business pertaining per-taining to the eliib. Mr. and Mrs. II. S. Smith announce the-ongagement of their daughter, Eva. to Mr. Lynn Haws. The marriage will take place at the Salt Lake temple April 2S. Miss Maud Bullock entertained the For-Gct-Mc-Not club at her home on Sundn3' evouing. Easter games were played and many musical selections were rendered. Refreshments, were served during the evening. The dancing party at the Mozart. hall on Wednesda3' night, given by the Tel-lurido Tel-lurido Power company to its employees and their friends, was a great social success. The hall and reception rooms were artistically arranged with flowers. There were about seventy-five couples present. Instead of the regular teachers' meeting meet-ing last Monday, a game of basketball was played on tho Franklin school grounds. After the game the teachers adjourned to the building, where the lady teachers served delicious refreshments, refresh-ments, after which the famous barn dance was introduced by Principal George Powclson. and, M.'rs. May A. Iiooth. and a Paderowski piano selection selec-tion was given by Eugene Roberts. Altogether Al-together it was pronounced tho most pleasant social given by the teachers this season. A party consisting of the following young people enjoyed an Easter outing on Saturday last: lona Knight, Amy Mangum. Mina. Taylor, Fay Loose and Very Hardy, and Messrs. Jack Christensen, Ellis Christcnsen, Clarence Jones, Thatcher Joues aud Homer Christensen. Tho trip was made 011 horseback and a middaj- lunch was served at the Knight bungalow in Provo canyon. Miss. Delpha Thorne of Pleasant Grove spent a few days this .week in Provo, tlie guest of Miss K. Armitstead. After a few da3's' visit with Provo friends, Miss Molissa Shaw has returned to her home in Ogden. The fourth-year graduating class of the B. Y. university presented the play "The Amazsons" to a crowded house at College hall on Wednesday evening. The B. V. U. Opera company is busily engaged in the preparation and rehearsing re-hearsing of "The Beggar Student," which it expects to put on the boards at the close of the school year. The Sorosis junior girls were entertained enter-tained on Monda3' evening at the home of Miss Florence Moore. Music was the main feature, followed by readings and light refreshments. Miss Emily Mace gave a very enjoyable en-joyable candy-inaking party to a number num-ber of her friends on Monday evening. The ladies of the Tolstoi circlo hold their annual outing on Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Miller in Bivcrdale, nnd the day proved one of enjoyment for all. 'At .1 o'clock luncheon was served and later an unusually un-usually interesting programme was given. Mrs. King and Mrs. tlauey wero appointed as a committee to act with tho other clubs, and in sympathy with tho movement inaugurated by tho business men to establish a V. M. V. A. J in Ogden. Mrs. Bouschol, ns poem reader, read-er, gave "The Country Life.'' by Stoddard, Stod-dard, after which "New Thought," tho subject for the dny, was taken up. "Philosophy of Happiness," rend by Mrs. Newcomb, and "The Spirit of Change," read bv Mrs. Clancy, wero discussed, ns well as the other writings writ-ings and teachings of the author, Ella Wheeler Wilcox. This was followed by a well-prepared paper bv Mrs. Miller on "The Principles of New Thought." The programme was conclude! by "Timely Topics," which was led by Mrs. Starralt, who gave a reading on the Emanuel movement under Dr. Worst Wor-st er. Tho Historical society held its last meeting at Inglcsidc, tho suburban homo of Mrs. Hat lio Miller. Tho attendance was small, but tho programme was very interesting. The senior class of tho high school will givo a "children's" party next Frjday evening at tho school, and some time next month the Latin class will present "Tho Death of Dodo," from tho fourth book of Virgil. Smith took place on Wednesday evening at tho home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Best. Tho ceremony was performed by. the Rev. W. W. Fleetwood of tho Episcopal church and was witnessed by about fifteen guests. The house was beautifully decorated with roses, lilies, carnations and ferns. Tho bride was attended by Miss Grace Frodsham and Wallnco Watts was best man. Tho bride's dress was white dotted swiss. and she carried a shower bouquet of roses and orange blossoms. Miss Frodsham Frod-sham 's dress was rose-colored silk, and she carried a cluster of junk and white carnations.
