Show MOTOR CYCLE RACE FOR WORLD'S RECORDS A 100-mile motorcycle race, the first to be held in Los Angeles, is to bo the Coliseum racing feature Sunday afternoon. after-noon. De Tfosier, Paul Derkum, Mitchol, Laugcnfclder and Samuelsou have entered. en-tered. Dc Rosier, great as he is in the motorcycle racing game, has seldom been able lo stay on the track for more than fifty miles, and the supporters of Paul Derkum believe the California boy will be able to win on account of his remarkable endurance. Derkum has 126 miles to his credit, after putting in a day at his work as a railroad fireman. Derkum is anxious to get back the long string of world's records which he once held, and he will make an effort to cut into all the long-distance marks. Dc Bosier wants to fill in the records in tho shorter distances that he has missed, and will begin tho race at a breakucck speed. Lnugcnfeldor will bo equipped with a battery of tvo singles and a double. We expects to ride a comparatively slow, but consistent, race, hoping to wear down the other riders. Mitchel claims to have got his German machines ma-chines into good condition, aud expects to spring a surprise. Samuelsou should figuro in the running if he can make his machines keep up the pace. The feature ot the amateur races is to bo a five-mile event on four-horsepower machines between "Fearless" Balke and lluyck. Graves and Wuyck will meet on seven-horsepower "machines. "ma-chines. & |
