"will SEHDG0MM1TTEE III INVESTIGATE PLANT Prospects Seem Bright for Se-euring Se-euring u Rolling Mill for Salt Lake. For tho past two woeks tho plan of investigating a proposition of moving a big steel rolling mill from Louisville to Salt Lake Cit has been discussod by officers of the Commercial club, tho Merchants & Manufacturers association and the Ileal Estate association. This discussion finally has crystallized into a determination" to send a competent committee to Louisville to study the feasibility of moving the plant, and also al-so the character and value of tho plant. Tho board of governors of the first two associations have already set aside their share of tho money necessary to send the committee to Louisville. The board of governors of the Itoal Estate association has declined to pass upou such an appropriation, aud for this reason rea-son a special meeting is to be held next Saturday at S o'clock to determine whether the L'cal Estate association will stand its share of tho expense. The committee which will in all probability prob-ability bo. sent to investigate tho proposition propo-sition will consist of Joseph Silver and Lon J. Haddock. Mr. Silver is and has been one of Salt Lake's loading, iron experts. Mr. Haddock is not bcing sent along to investigate the rolling null itself, it-self, but an electrical plant which is said to be a part of tho rolling mill. It is understood that tho rolling mill is modern in every detail, but that it could not. support itself in its present field because of such keen competition. But there is no such plant in Utah. Tt it argued that there is a field for such an industry here, nnd the plant would readily support itself. Tho M. & M. and the Commercial club feel certain that if the committee reports re-ports favorably on tho propositiou that enough capital can bo secured to get the plant. Tho, proposed plant would give direct employment to oOO men. Beside tho 500 men employed in the plant it-self, it-self, many men would bo more or less dircotlv interested in such an institution. institu-tion. It is for this reason that tho three organizations arc planning to investigate investi-gate the feasibility of moving the plant.
