OCR Text PUJIPOETED STATEMENT OP TAPT ON INJUNCTIONS WASHINGTON, July 12. Frank H. Hitchcock, chairman of the Republican national commlttoo, had his attention brought this afternoon to tho publication In a Chicago newspaper of what was ro-portod ro-portod to bo an authorized statoment issued is-sued by tho Industrial headquarters of Judge Taffs views on the anti-Injunction planlc of tho platform. Mr. Hitchcock said that he had novor heard of this statement beforo and that ho certainly would havo been advised had any such statement been authorized by Judge Taft. Ho declined to make any comment on the accuracy of tho statement with regard to Judgo Taffs position in this Important matter. It Is recalled by Judge Taft's friends horo that while secretary of war Mr. , Taft not Infrequently cxprossed himself with great candor upon tho subjoct of tho proper employment of tho powerful legal agoncy known as tho Injunction, In disputes betweon employers and employees. em-ployees. Thoy point out that tho Judge In several public speeches, notably one In Boston, indicated his belief that the existing ex-isting court practice should bo regulated so as to admit of the trial of contempt cases beforo other Judges than thoso Is-, suing tho writ, and that In other rospocts ho was in favor of liberalizing court practice prac-tice In tho Interest of labor, never, however, how-ever, going to tho extent or sanctioning tho right of suspension of such writs of Injunction without notice In cases whoro such action was necessary to prevent violence or destruction of tanglblo property.
